Rihanna will debut the most fluffy addition to her fur hat collection on the red carpet at the 2024 Fashion Awards.
Every A-lister has their signature luxury accessories they own in all shades and textures possible, they love it so much Jennifer Lopez is a Hermes Birkin bag. Katie Holmes is a Gucci loafer. Rihanna is a fur hat.
Long before luxury hats became the 2024 winter runway trend, the "Diamond" singer was building an impressive archive of fur toppers. It is comparable in size to Pamela Anderson in the late 1990s and has versions ranging from bubblegum Emma Brewin bucket hats to vintage Chanel and Oscar de la Renta fur. Her headgear archive just got another addition: on 12 May. 2 At the annual Fashion Awards hosted by the British Fashion Council at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Rihanna wore a bright turquoise hat, a slarpy blue fur dress and peeked through an exposed bra. The piece draped over her shoulders like a stall, before wrapping in an asymmetrical hem at the front; a semi-sheer, sequin-coated train peeps from behind. Her appearance came courtesy of Christian Lacroix's Fall 2002 collection — with support from her stylist, Jahleel Weaver.
Rihanna walked the red carpet in the brightest blue fur to honor her long-time partner, A文化AP Rocky, who won the Cultural Innovator Award. He opted for a much more dial-back look for the evening, consisting of a blue oversized suit jacket and slacks with a red bow tie peeking out from below
While AAPAP Rocky was due to be in the limelight later in the evening, Rihanna's decadent blue fur won the carpet heading to the theatre. It works precisely because it's over-the-top in a way that only Rihanna can pull off. Who else is the reason to stack the Ice Queen's blue fur dress and hat on a diamond necklace, Maria Tash earrings and leather opera gloves?
The look responsible for the beginning of Rihanna's blue fur period is one of the many vintage moments she has organised this year 1. I salute this in particular to bring a much-needed dose of big hat energy back to the red carpet.
