Gigi Hadid's oversized Cloud scarf is the perfect accessory when it's too cold to function

New York City was not very technically frozen on Friday, dec. 6. Still, was the 33-degree forecast cold enough for me to seriously assess the kind of coat that was constructed like Katie Holmes or like Princess Kate?- Or whether I go outside. Gigi Hadid had the same winter costume conundrum to face for her morning errands a few miles away from me in Soho. Finally, she decided to let the creamy cloud scarf serve as her personal space heater.

In an outfit that otherwise consisted of dark tones — a purple coat that looks like a Frankie shop, gray washed jeans, tough ragsole boots- Hadid's blizzard white scarf could not be missed. The proportions landed somewhere between Phoebe Philo's viral Satin pillow scarf and Renee Kravitz's memorized knitted version. Her face, hidden in sunglasses and a blue baseball cap, was barely sticking out of a cloth wrapped around her neck. She didn't seem like the cold was bothering her at all.

Hadid's has always been a professional in winter layers. Owning and designing knitwear labels is a shortcut to expertise in choosing the best insulated fabrics and cozy, coordinating qualities; so you're getting the first dibs in the new collection while modeling for Miu Miu, Versace and Chanel. Still, her Friday morning look wasn't as impressive from my point of view (when I first came across a crew neck sweater, knitted pants, and the aforementioned slipper boots she managed to make an emotional support accessory into an otherwise casual, cool, and sophisticated outfit. Replacing jeans for sweatpants and structured boots for slippers-like shoes made things cozy without getting too comfortable

Earlier this week, Gigi Hadid hit the Waverley Inn for dinner with Taylor Swift: She wore a burgundy dress and a black dress. Her pop star best friend opted for a bubble dress and bejeweled handbag. Her dark cherry palette was perfectly in trend, but I still prefer her laid-back cloud scarf. The next time I'm almost too cold to function, I'll channel my inner supermodel and set it wrapped in one of the similar options below.
