Jennifer Lopez Match Modern Mannequin Manicure to Princess Diana's Codes
Jennifer Lopez is the undisputed queen of nude color. I am convinced that she came into this world to spread the gospel of soft neutral shades of pink, peach, beige, and ivory. You will rarely see her without her glossy latte lips, bronzed cheeks, and dusky brown eye makeup. But if you really want to understand a woman's aesthetic, look no further than her fingertips.
For example, Lopez wore an outfit and bag inspired by Princess Diana to the latest “Unstoppable” press tour in London on Thursday, November 6, where the star was painted by celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik, who supposedly showed up with pinky nude mannequin nails. Unlike the naked manicure trend, which emphasizes sheer nude colors and short lengths, mannequin nails are all about meticulous cuticles and high coverage polish to create an ultra-perfect, skin-tone matching look. Here, the “Let's Get Loud” singer wears the trend with an elongated square off-tip that appears to have a slight taper, which I describe as a happy shape somewhere between a coffin and an almond.
Lopez has consistently given mannequin manicures throughout the press tour for Unstoppable, beginning with its September premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. After the screening, Bacik took to Instagram to reveal the exact shade she used to create this look: the brand's Light & Shadows collection in Apres Burnt Blush.
Bacik has yet to confirm the shades used on Lopez in her November 6 appearance, but options like Gucci Ellen Blush, OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around, and Hermes Rose Baltic seem like a very close match.
Her feminine beige-pink nails matched her head-to-toe Dior outfit perfectly, with a black turtleneck and white double-breasted coat. A black wide-brimmed hat, backless boots, and a dainty black “Lady Dior” handbag named after Princess Diana rounded out the ensemble.
It was a look Princess Diana would have surely loved, but the late icon might have opted for a matte pearl French manicure instead. To each his own!
