Haley Bieber on Her Favorite Fall Manicure Trends, from Maple Syrup Brown to Merlot Red
No duo is more iconic than Haley Bieber and her longtime nail artist Zora Ganzorig. From her signature glazed donut nails to food-inspired nails like butter yellow, cherry blossom, and farmer's market nails. Needless to say, the best Haley Beaver nails don't grow on trees.
That's why when the opportunity came up to interview Bieber about the big launch of Rohde's Barrier Butter, I couldn't resist asking the mother of one about the fall nail trends she loves most. With grace, the beauty giant didn't hesitate to spill the tea.
“Right after I had my baby, I had brown maple-ish colored nails,” Bieber recalls over the zoom about the maple syrup-inspired manicure she showed off on Instagram shortly after giving birth to her son, Jack Bruce Bieber, in late August.
Ganzolicht later revealed on her professional page that the particular shade of brown in Bieber's fall leaves is difficult to replicate, given that it was created by mixing five different shades. However, the nail artist has previously demonstrated a similar technique of blending multiple polishes and shared a post about espresso-inspired nails in May. In that tutorial, she combined four polishes from OPI: Purrrrride, Lookin' Cute-icle, As Real as It Gets, and Bare My Soul.
Two weeks later, in mid-September, Bieber reappeared on Instagram with a fresh coat of navy tips. The move was perhaps a tribute to her young son's middle name.
“Then I went navy,” Bieber recalls. The moment fall came, I thought, 'I'm ready for some fall nail polish.'”
‘I was like, ’I'm ready for some fall nail polish.'”
According to Ganzolicht, the exact shade of dark blue polish used on Bieber was OPI's “Midnight Mantra,” but the look is very reminiscent of OPI's even darker shade “Russian Navy” that was all the rage among beauty bloggers around the 2010s
Currently, the beads are available in a variety of shades.
The shade currently adorning Bieber's fingertips is a light brown riff on her signature glazed donut manicure, which can be seen in detail on her latest TikTok. “Right now I have this glaze-y latte color on my nails,” she explains. 'I mean, I love really pretty neutrals.'
Ganzolicht has yet to reveal the recipe for recreating this look, but we do know her formula for a classic glazed donut nail: a sheer beige polish called “Bare My Soul” from OPI, the brand's chrome powder “Tin Man Can” is layered underneath a dusting of the same brand's chrome powder. (Sadly, this metallic powder is sold directly to salons only, but a similar look can be achieved with Daily Charme's “Magic White” chrome powder.)
Bieber also hinted at a classic fall manicure she hopes to revisit in the coming months. 'I love playing with deep reds and browns,' she mused. 'I love merlot for fall nails. Deep grays are always really cool to me”
.
Her choice perfectly matches the moody red manicure already trending on TikTok and the Tumblr-esque taupe manicure that beauty founder Kylie Jenner debuted on Instagram last month. To capture the same wine-colored vibe, you can't go wrong with shades like Essie Wicked or OPI in the Cable Car. As far as gray nail polishes go, Nailberry's Stones quickly became my holy grail.
But frankly, I'll take my beauty cues from Bieber no matter what shade of nail polish she tries next. Wherever her manicure leads, the trend is sure to follow.
