Adam Brody revealed the secret to his long-lasting marriage to Leighton Meester.

“Oh, you pick the right person,” Brody replied when asked on “Today” with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.

“You get lucky, you fall in love with someone nice, and then you just do what they say.”

The actor then doubled down on his statement.

“With great people, you're on third base. It's not that you don't need sacrifice and humility, and you have to grow with them, and you have to want to grow with them, and you have to be willing to grow with them.” But with great people, I think you're at third base.”

Brody and Meester married in 2014 and have a daughter (age 9) and a son (age 4).

The hosts asked him what his parenting style is like and he replied, “Very honest. For better or worse, we have very honest conversations. But other than that, I wouldn't say it's too strict, but you know there are helicopters. I wouldn't say it's too harsh, but it's literally like looking at a sharp knife. We want to keep their heads clean.”

The actor was on the show to promote his new TV series “Nobody Wants This” with Kristen Bell. He spoke with Kotb and Bush Hager about his on-screen chemistry with Bell.

Not only has Bell appeared in cult teen dramas (“Veronica Mars” to Brody's “The O.C.”), but she is also known for her efforts to be remarkably honest with the children she shares with Dax Shepard. In 2023, for example, the actress revealed that she talks to her children about drugs and sex, making sure they have all the information they need as they move forward in life.

As for “Nobody Wants This,” it airs Thursdays on Netflix.
