Read MoreWith Halloween just about a month away, Prince Harry got into the spooky mood a little early with an unexpected royal visit during his New York itinerary: on September 26, the Duke of Sussex took a hilarious trip through a haunted maze with Jimmy Fallon, making the royal speech a more playful He turned the performance into.
Harry's visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon focused on visiting “Jimmy Fallon's Tonightmares,” a new haunted attraction at Rockefeller Center.
According to the attraction's website, Fallon and Prince Harry, equipped with body cams, navigated a maze filled with “sinister characters” that would “make the TV host's nightmares come true.” But it was the employees' turn to be surprised when they encountered a creepy rock band. [After Fallon and the Duke walked away, one of the performers sitting in front of the drum set asked another costumed employee, “What's going on here?
“Prince Harry!” replied the leather-clad actor, and the two exchanged shocked, open-mouthed looks as the first actor dramatically stirred himself up.
As for the Duke of Sussex, when asked if he was “easily frightened,” he replied to Fallon, “Not usually, but maybe not today.” However, the prince's expletive-laden reaction in the maze may have proved different.
Startled by the zombie-like creature that burst through the door, the prince grabbed onto Fallon's chest, much to the amusement of viewers. Fallon admitted, “It actually got me.”
Aside from the terrifying encounter, the Duke of Sussex immersed himself in serious work while in New York, working with charities like the HALO Trust and the Diana Award during UN Climate Week.
He concluded his trip by discussing the challenges and opportunities that travel brings to the international community, discussing real issues that he finds more frightening than haunted houses.
The Duke of Sussex told the audience at the fifth anniversary event of his nonprofit Travalyst that “as a father of two,” he feels the statistics on climate change are “absolutely frightening.”
