Prince Andrew's infamous BBC Newsnight interview has been dramatized in a new Amazon Prime Video miniseries, A Very Royal Scandal, released September 19. While the focus is on Andrew's television appearances, the program also explores his relationship with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.

Welsh actor Michael Sheen plays the Duke of York in the three-part miniseries, which follows BBC journalist Emily Maitlis in her 2019 interview with Prince Andrew about his connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The film depicts her preparing for an interview to be conducted in 2019 with Prince Andrew about her connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The couple divorced in 1996, but Andrew and Sarah (more commonly known as Fergie) still live together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, and in A Very Royal Scandal viewers get a fictional peek into their unusual relationship A Very Royal Scandal allows viewers a fictional glimpse into their unusual relationship.

The former couple, who share daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are famously close, and this miniseries shows them enjoying a game they were playing, a gesture game, when Andrew received word that Epstein had committed suicide in prison.

In 2001, the royal family, accused of sleeping with Virginia Giuffre, a then 17-year-old girl who was being trafficked by Epstein, seeks support from the family amid a growing public outcry over the allegations.

Claire Lashbrook, wearing a bright red wig, bears a striking resemblance to Fergie, and in the first episode, the Duchess of York tells Andrew that she “never intended” to ask him if the allegations were true.

Instead, she admonishes Andrew for traveling to New York and asking Epstein for money when he needed financial help, but promises to support him in his troubles.

The exes have certainly weathered many storms together. In A Very Royal Scandal, it is emphasized that while they may not have been romantically involved, Prince Andrew was willing to go the distance to support his ex-wife.

Fergie, on the other hand, called the Yorks “the happiest divorced people in the world” in one scene, and was equally supportive of Andrew, standing in his shoes and at one point saying to his ex-wife, “I've never seen you two so happy. You two may wear wigs and dance the can-can, but you don't know how to apologize.”

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie do not want to believe the allegations against their father when they learn of them, and Beatrice (played by Tilda Swinton's daughter, Honor Swinton Byrne) plays a larger role in the show.

However, the interview was not a “good one.

However, the prime video series also depicts a more down-to-earth side of the royal family, as Eugenie and Beatrice joke about their father's nickname “Randy Andy” from the 1980s when attending a royal event.

As for real life, Prince Charles is currently trying to convince Fergie and Andrew to move out of the Royal Lodge, but it remains to be seen if the former couple will continue their cozy lifestyle elsewhere.
