Sarah Ferguson rents out her London townhouse as pressure mounts to move out of the Royal Lodge with Prince Andrew

While Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are under pressure from Prince Charles to vacate the Royal Lodge, their shared house, the Duchess of York has indicated that she does not intend to move into the London townhouse.

According to the Daily Mail, the royal family does not intend to move into the £4.25 million London townhouse. Instead, she is reportedly renting out the property for the unbeatable price of £16,000 a month.

On Sunday, September 20, the magazine reported that the Duchess of York “has a tenant in place at the two-bedroom Belgravia property she bought in 2022, and the rent she is receiving from this means that moving from Windsor to London is not part of her ‘game plan.’” She clarified.

According to recent reports, Prince Charles is pressuring his brother Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Ferguson to move out of their shared residence at the Royal Lodge. According to the Times, Prince Andreu's security at the Royal Lodge is estimated to cost King Charles nearly $4 million a year. This is reportedly a cost that the King has personally incurred since 2022, when his brother was forced to retire from official royal duties and lost police protection.

Next month, Prince Andreou will also reportedly lose that protection. According to the latest reports, Prince Charles has not yet arranged for a replacement guard, and questions are being raised as to where Prince Andreu will reside or whether the prince will have to foot the bill for his own guard.

For those who do not know, Prince Andreu lost his police protection after the late Queen Elizabeth stripped the royal family of their military titles and patronage following adverse allegations and civil suits from Virginia Giuffre, who claimed that the Duke of York sexually assaulted her when she was a minor.

The royal family denied these allegations and the case was settled out of court.

Royal expert Angela Mollard has argued that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson should move out of the Royal Lodge and move to the more modest Frogmore Cottage. [The 65-year-old duke will never regain his reputation. He is an old, dirty, damaged article, and no amount of charity or churchgoing with the more virtuous members of the family will change that,” Mollard wrote in her latest column for the Daily Mail.

“But Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are young women whose lives are adjacent to the royal family. For their sake and in honor of their diligence and thoughtfulness, their father needs to do the right thing and hurry to Frogmore Cottage.”
