Question for everyone: Did Beyonce skip the 2024 MTV VMAs?

[Beyonce is the reigning queen of the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. (Seriously.) She holds the world record for most in VMA history, having won 30 Moon People trophies to date, ranging from Best Song of the Year to Best Female Video to Best Choreography.

This year, the “Texas Hold 'Em” singer has been nominated for several more awards for that very song, including song of the year for 2024. She was also nominated for the VMA's Most Iconic Performance award for “Love on Top,” which she performed in 2011, her third nomination of the night.

After an eight-year hiatus, the pop legend was expected to return to the 2024 VMA red carpet on September 11, but (and this is a big but) the show is officially on and she is nowhere to be seen.

Beyonce has made several public appearances in recent months and has been unusually visible, but apparently she chose to miss this special event. For reasons unknown, she had taken a few days off to celebrate her 43rd birthday.

Beyonce's last VMA appearance was back in 2016, when she walked the white carpet at the time in a glittery naked dress covered in silver sequins. The dramatic Maison Francesco Scognamiglio design featured a skeletal bustier bodice and a huge feather collar covered in mint green feathers.

Despite her absence, Beyoncé has walked the VMA red carpet many times over the years. She and the members of Destiny's Child wore matching leather bustiers studded with crystals. It was a look that went down in history.

Wherever she is, Queen Bey must be doing well.
