This year marked Megan Thee Stallion's first time MCing the MTV VMAs, and while hosting, she paid homage to one of the award show's most beloved performers over the years.

The rap superstar went through several costume changes throughout the 2024 MTV VMAs, at one point appearing in a recreation of the striking look she wore when Britney Spears performed “Slave 4 U” at the 2001 VMAs. Meghan perfectly recreated the green bikini top and blue hot pants, and even carried a yellow snake banana that the pop icon danced with.

Although it was a sweet moment, Megan Seastallion immediately seemed concerned that the snake might “HISS” at her.

As “Slave 4 U” played, the “Hunchback” artist appeared with the snake over her shoulder and Britney's fit, she began repeating, “Okay, okay. Stop the music, stop the music."

”We're just playing. Come and get this snake,” Megan Sea Stallion said nervously while the crew came to her aid.

“I don't know this snake. This snake doesn't know me,” she added cheekily.

After the crew removed the snake from the host's body, she exclaimed, “Oh my God,” and straightened herself up, fixing her hair. I tried to hold it back for Britney!”

she exclaimed.

The tribute could not have been more fitting. Spears has performed with Madonna and Christina Aguilera in 2003, to 2000's “Oops! I Did It Again"-Megan Seastallion recently experienced her own snarky moment.

This year, the hip-hop star dropped Megan, which is full of snake imagery, including her cover art as she hatches from an egg. The lead single, “Cobra,” was released last year and represents her shedding as an artist and an individual.

She opened the ceremony wearing a U.S.A. leotard, a nod to the Olympics and the show's first presenter, Olympic gymnast Jordan Childs.
