Taylor Swift finally reveals that her favorite perfume is Tom Ford at the 2024 VMAs.

For more than a decade, inquiring minds have been working day and night to find out what Taylor Swift smells like. More specifically, which perfume she wears. Well, her recent appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards seems to have made significant progress in this matter. A very cute exchange between Swift and drag queen Xunami Muse was recorded and subsequently released on X. Muse took a picture with Swift, then casually turned around and asked the pop star straight up what perfume she was wearing, the unthinkable He does.

“It smells so good,” Muse tells Swift, seemingly mimicking putting on perfume.

“What is it? Swift's eyes light up and she replies, “Thank you, it's Tom Ford.” Muse tells Swift, “It's Tom Ford! That's so nice."

This clip is the closest a fan can come to getting a direct answer from Swift herself. Of course, we've theorized about her signature scent for years. In the pop star's 2020 Netflix documentary “Miss Americana,” Swifties noticed a bottle of Tom Ford's Santal Blush placed in the background alongside a bottle of L'Oreal Elnett spray. The discovery supports claims on Reddit and TikTok that Swift has been sharing her favorite scents with secret listening party attendees for years. The rumored list includes Santal Blush, Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb, and another iconic Tom Ford fragrance, Tobacco Vanille.

All three perfumes are consistent with David Letterman's statement in 2010 that Swift during the Speak Now era smelled like “expensive wood.” Santal Blush is a spicy, sumptuous blend of ylang-ylang, cinnamon, cedar, and sandalwood; Tobacco Vanille is a noble gourmand spiced with tree sap; and Tobacco Vanille is a spicy, sweet, and spicy blend of black tea, cedar, and sandalwood. Flower Bomb begins with black tea and bergamot but dries down to a base of musk and patchouli.

Perhaps someday Swift will give us the perfume collection tour we have been requesting for over a decade. Miss Americana rarely, if ever, names a beauty brand. Unless it's Mother Pat McGrath.
