Kendall Jenner Revives the Shaggy Pixie Cut in Calvin Klein Ad
The Kardashian-Jenner sisters each have their own distinctive styles. Kendall Jenner, in particular, is known for her long, slicked-back, chest-length hair. Today, however, she debuted a radical Kris Jenner-esque pixie cut in the guise of a Calvin Klein ad.
Jenner's shaggy pixie cut is reminiscent of the 1990s, when stars like Halle Berry, Winona Ryder, and Cameron Diaz championed the style. This edgy, '90s-inspired hairstyle matches the energy of Calvin Klein's new campaign. Jenner models a collection of slip dresses, wool overcoats, and pleated pants that are reminiscent of 90s style. The collection makes Jenner's hair look even better, but it is unclear if she had her hair done specifically for this shoot.
This is not Kendall's first project with Calvin Klein (she began working with the brand in 2015 when she was featured in a Calvin Klein jeans ad), but the model's transformed cut makes this instance particularly memorable. In a press release, Jenner said that despite the years she has been working with the brand, “I still look forward to working with the team on every campaign.” This shoot in particular gave her the chance to “bring out the classic sensuality that the brand is known for” - a quality that is evident in many of the shots where Jenner combines underwear with outerwear, business wear, and leather.
Shot and directed by photographer Mart Alas, the campaign features Jenner wearing the new designs on the beach in Los Angeles. In every shot, her shaggy pixie cut shines through, dropping chic choppy layers around her face and forehead. In countless comments on Alas and Jenner's Instagram posts, fans marveled at the similarities between Kendall and her mother Kris' new hairstyle.
Jenner's shaggy cut may herald a new era of celebrity pixie cuts. But if you're not ready for such dramatic chops, you can channel Jenner's sultry photo shoot by exploring Calvin Klein's new collection, which debuts today and continues to roll out throughout the fall season.
