Mark your calendars for September, as the 2024 VMAs will air live on MTV on Wednesday, September 11 at 8 pm ET/PT. This year's event will be held at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York.
The VMA was originally scheduled for September 10, but was moved up one day due to the U.S. presidential election debate.

Meghan the Stallion is set to host the first ever Hot Girl VMAs, which will be her awards ceremony hosting debut as a rapper. However, this is not her first time hosting: she previously had a dual role as host and performer on “Saturday Night Live” and co-hosted “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
The “Mamushi” rapper first appeared at the 2019 VMAs, performing in a red carpet pre-show. Last year, he appeared on the main stage and performed “Bongos” with frequent collaborator Cardi B.
MTV has hosted Anitta, Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chapel Lorne, Glorilla, Halsey, Karol G, Lenny Kravitz, LISA, LL Cool J , Lau Alejandro, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, and several other big-name artists announced that they will take the VMA stage this year. More A-list acts will take the VMA stage, to be announced closer to the show.
Among the nominated artists, Taylor Swift was the most recognizable artist of the year with 10 nominations. She could also break several records, including winning “Video of the Year” for the third year in a row and becoming the first artist to win the category five times. Other top contenders include Post Malone, who is nominated for nine Moon Person Awards; Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter, who are each nominated in six categories; Meghan Zee Stallion and SZA, who are each nominated in five categories; 4 LISA and Olivia Rodrigo, who are nominated in four categories. Carpenter also joins first-time nominees Chapel Roan, Coco Jones, Gracie Abrams, Le Seraphim, Ray, and Tyler.
This year, Katy Perry will receive MTV's prestigious Video Vanguard Award. She will be returning to the VMA stage for the first time since 2017, when she hosted the awards ceremony. Perry has won five VMAs throughout her career, including Video of the Year for her 2011 song “Firework.”
Past winners of the Video Vanguard Award include Shakira, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Rihanna, Beyonce, and Britney Spears.
