Kendall Jenner knows how to vacation in style. Like her minimalist daytime uniform, her summer wardrobe is filled with timeless pieces, from little black dresses to flip-flops and swimwear. In her latest Instagram carousel, Kendall Jenner showed off a stringy, deliberately mismatched bikini and a down-to-earth baseball cap.

The Kardashian star updated her 292 million followers on Monday, July 22, with an update, this time relaxing on the edge of her private boat and sipping a pink drink (presumably her own 818 Tequila mixed in). In a series of three images, Jenner was photographed wearing a small triangle red bikini top. She avoided a perfect matching moment. Instead of coordinating in red, she wore sassy black bottoms and barely visible briefs with silver hardware at the hips.

But she color-coordinated in an unlikely way: Jenner wore long brunette hair, a Polo Ralph Lauren cheerful red hat, and matching red nail polish. She also paired it with gold jewelry, medium sized hoops and a dainty chain bracelet. As expected for a day spent in the water, Jenner wore no makeup.

“Wake surfer girl,” the 28-year-old captioned her Instagram post.

Jenner usually stays true to her no-mistakes uniform, but occasionally she enjoys a subtle switch, throwing out her style rule book.

Last week, on July 18, she put a supermodel spin on the classic “little black dress” silhouette when she attended the Miley Cyrus and Gucci poolside summer party at the Chateau Marmont. With the help of stylist Dani Michelle, the 818 Tequila founder wore a deconstructed LBD. Underneath, she incorporated lingerie by wearing a ruffled lace bralette.

Before the evening's festivities, Jenner tested color theory with jeans, flip-flops, and classic neutrals. She mixed her favorite understated colors with black flip flops and a large brown tote bag from The Row, concluding the argument that no matter what the color scheme, neutral colors do, in fact, go well together.

But back to bikinis: Kendall Jenner is not the only celebrity providing vacation-ready swimwear inspiration this summer.
