An “unusual” hobby enjoyed by Queen Camilla until tragedy struck in 2024.

Read MoreIt's hard to top the Eiffel Tower in everyday Paris, let alone on the eve of the 2024 Paris Olympics. But on the red carpet of the “Prelude to the Olympics” party, Zendaya stood out in a glamorous beaded Louis Vuitton gown with the help of a trendy little micro bag. [In recent weeks, Zendaya has been embracing British style while living with boyfriend Tom Holland in west London. From wearing preppy tennis whites to Wimbledon, to hitting Notting Hill in trendy mesh flats and a classic trench coat, to becoming a Shakespearean heroine at the premiere of Holland's “Romeo and Juliet,” on July 25, Z crossed the English Channel to express her inner French girl at a party hosted by the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. Styled by her image architect Lo Roach, Zendaya sparkled in a black slip dress with a fitted bodice and thin spaghetti straps. Rows and rows of tiny black beads covered the entire dress.
Several yards of beaded embellishment reflected the evening light and covered Zendaya's body in a liquid glow. Not much else was needed to pull off this look: other than the dress, the only other thing in the picture was a Polly-pocket-sized Vuitton trunk bag. (Those fingers had just been painted with athlete-approved Bubble Bath Olympic nail polish.)
That little accessory made an impact, and not just because Zendaya has an ambassadorial contract with the French luxury house. The micro-mini bag trend, defined by a structured top handle and a compartment for lip balm (and little else), is sweeping designers from luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Fendi to emerging brands like Savett. And according to the Fall 2024 bag trend, doubling up on smaller styles with a second oversized tote is going to be the accessory styling hack of the season. Zendaya is ahead of the curve with her tiny bags.
Zendaya's minimalist wardrobe styling was not the only gold medal-worthy move of the night. Photos from inside the “Prelude” party venue gave us an up-close glimpse of Z's beauty, from her rosy cheeks (a sign of the summer blush trend) to her wet, wavy hair. No maroon nail polish, which Zendaya had worn in London a few days earlier, but pale pink bubble bath nails instead.
Inside the party, the Challengers star mingled with athletes and celebrities, including Pharrell, Serena Williams, and Rosalia, while Grammy-winning singer Tyra performed. Zendaya's greeting of Novak Djokovic was also captured on video.
Zendaya was after months of fashion servings on the Challengers Global Press Tour, so fans might have expected the actress to make more sporty references on the red carpet. She spent weeks wearing custom and vintage looks from Louis Vuitton, Loewe, and Ralph Lauren (among many others), inspired by her tennis player-turned-coach character. Zendaya seems to have left the sports references to the actual athletes this time around. But if she wants to try an Olympic fashion collaboration or Olympic nail art, there is still time before the Olympics, which begin tomorrow, July 26, and run through August 4. Let's consider the costume possibilities!
