The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics was a remarkable event, with Lady Gaga's appearance surrounded by flamingo-like pink feathers. But perhaps the most moving moment of the evening occurred when Celine Dion took the stage to perform Edith Piaf's “Hymne à l'Amour.” She appeared in a Dior Haute Couture dress covered in beads and sequins. Naturally, she was truly stunning.

In December 2022, Dion revealed that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), which severely affects muscle control. The “My Heart Will Go On” singer explained that the condition even affected her singing ability. At the time, she wrote on Instagram, “Unfortunately, the spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulty when walking and not being able to sing as I am used to with my vocal chords.”

As a result, Dion's return to the stage was a triumph, and her phenomenal Dior gown was the perfect outfit for the occasion.

The Dior gown sparkled under the lights as she gave her comeback performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Made of white silk georgette and decorated with a cascade of glittering sequins and beads, the singer appeared to be clad in crystal as she took the stage. The Dior dress was adorned with “thousands of pearls and over 500 meters of fringe,” according to a press release.

The complexity of the gown required an enormous amount of work by Dior's Haute Couture atelier, taking over 1,000 hours to create, according to Vogue magazine. The floor-length gown was adorned with a long train, which made Dion's return to the stage a majestic one. Diamond drop earrings completed the look, and she wore her hair in a sleek bun.

Dion's partnership with Dior extends beyond the opening ceremony performance. Earlier this week, the iconic singer was photographed wearing an oversized, logomaniacal Dior tracksuit featuring Dior's signature monogram and racing stripes. The tracksuit pants cost $3,000 and the pullover anorak top is $4,000.

Lady Gaga also wore Dior for the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Her dramatic outfit consisted of a custom-made black bustier, black satin shorts, and accessories such as headdress and gloves, all by Dior. Before showing off her all-black ensemble, Lady Gaga was surrounded by “naturally molted feathers” in flamingo pink.
