Blake Lively ducked into her husband's side of the walk-in closet for a promotional photo shoot on Instagram on Thursday, July 11. In a caption accompanying the photo, in which she reviewed a floral collage and posed with a copy of the movie tie-in "It Ends With Us," Lively revealed that her brocade shirt jacket and coordinating shorts were from the insider's favorite fashion brand " Bode," she revealed. And that the shirt is from Reynolds.
"@bode thanks for the coolest shorts. And @vancityreynolds thanks for donating the @bode shirt for me to layer with that suit," Lively wrote.
The actress paired the suit's moody floral print with a cropped black tube top and high $1,102 Versace heels. Her hair was down in her signature loose waves.
Blake Lively's followers may have noticed that her fashion has been extra floral in recent months. At the Tribeca Film Festival, she wore a colorful pajama suit printed with flowers and a small double C Chanel logo. She also wore a pair of cut-out floral Valentino jeans, which cost $19,000, to a press event. According to her latest Instagram caption, it is part of a larger pattern.
Lively said she is starting a "floral fashion month" for the August premiere of It Ends With Us." She said, "I'm bringing Lily Bloom's style to you in real life. Her caption referred to husband Ryan Reynolds and best friend Gigi Hadid, as well as interior design firms Pierce & Ward and House of Hackney as "inspiration" for her botanical style. [☺️ Feminine and Masculine. Maximalist and minimalist. Excess and practicality. A woman of all things at once," Lively wrote.
Referencing her florist character in petal-embellished clothing is Blake Lively's way of tapping into Hollywood's "method dressing" trend. For the past year, actors have been taking on roles on the red carpet, choosing outfits that obliquely or subtly trace their on-screen roles. Sometimes it's the designer's backstory, sometimes it's the superficial patterns and colors that lead to the plot. Margot Robbie's Barbie press tour and Zendaya's costumes for Dune and Challengers are more exaggerated examples. Anja Taylor-Joy and Daisy Edgar Jones, on the other hand, have recently attempted to moderate their self-referential styling moves.
While other actors work with stylists, Blake Lively styles herself. Her free-spirited approach to fashion is so idiosyncratic that she joked in an Instagram caption that she inspired Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming film." I hear I was his inspo for Wade Wilson in @deadpoolmovie 3 😵💫 I guess we'll just have to wait and see..." I joked. The debt is owed to both.
