Let Jennifer Lawrence prove that the controversial jelly sandal trend is wearable!

In May, fashion insiders told Marie Claire magazine that the jelly sandal trend was about to explode; in June, with a little help from Jennifer Lawrence, the throwback sandal received the ultimate vote of confidence.

Lawrence campaigned the Jelly Sandal on Wednesday, June 26, in an all-white outfit; the PVC material and cage-shaped silhouette might make some think it's a very out and out shoe. Lawrence saw the shoes for the first time on The Row's Paris runway last fall and saw an opportunity to creatively color block them, just like the guests who instantly bought them when they went on sale this spring. (The "Hunger Games" star popped on a pair of $850 flats and a $50 Polo Ralph Lauren hat. She contrasted her colorful accessories with a white button-up shirt and coordinating pants. Jennifer Lawrence's Jelly Sandals didn't look like millennial nostalgia fodder, even alongside those classic items. They looked like easy, colorful summer shoes.

Lawrence has recently doubled, and in some cases tripled, the revived Y2K trend. Just yesterday, she was walking around Manhattan in a pair of trendy parachute pants in the form of voluminous drawstring pants that fluttered in the breeze. (She chose butter yellow, a nod to the trendy spring color, which she has already worn several times this year in the form of T-shirts and cardigans.) A few days earlier, she had worn bright red parachute pants.

An oversized bag that exudes Early Aughts energy is also making a comeback in the star's wardrobe. Common to her accessory stack over the past few days has been a slouchy black bag. (Exact credits for her spacious totes have yet to surface, but there are plenty in stock at brands ranging from & Other Stories to Mansur Gavriel.)

Lawrence is also a collector of it shoes. In addition to jelly sandals, mules, and mesh flat shoes from The Row, he also loves Alaia's sold-out mesh flat shoes. Before heading out in yellow parachute pants and suede shoes, the actress was also photographed cycling around town in Tory Burch studded ballerinas.

The heavy metal ballerina shoes caught the eye of fashion insiders after debuting on Tory Burch's Spring 2023 runway and quickly sold out. Given her timing, Lawrence was one of the lucky few who got her own pair off the waiting list. (The more I stared at Lawrence and her jelly sandals, the less buzz the trend seemed to be getting.
