Emily Rutkowski gets back to skater-boy chic in baggy jean shorts and a simple tank.

The ever-fashionable Emily Rutakowski proves that early-aughts fashion will never go out of style.

On Friday, June 14, the model was spotted in New York City wearing a laid-back summer outfit that single-handedly revived skater-boy chic; in a look reminiscent of Avril Lavigne in 2002, Ratakowski wore baggy, low-rise, knee-length jean shorts and a simple black tank.

In a move that would make an early millennial proud, the model wore black sunglasses and wore her hair up with a black banana clip.

The look was somewhat of a departure from the model's feminine style, but was very consistent with her minimalist girl summer outfit, which contributes to many boho looks featuring neutral tones and toned-down pairings.

In May, she paired a bohemian lace dress with casual cherry red sneakers, proving that "less can be more" depending on the stylist.

Mango's translucent white lace sundress had thin straps and was see-through, with floral embroidered macramé cutouts on the bodice and hips. The My Body author, being the minimalist girl that she is, kept her accessories simple, layering a gold chain necklace with matching earrings and chunky bracelets.

And in a recent Instagram photo dump showcasing her latest vacation to Italy, Rutkowski wore a black and white hersa faire color block midi dress, a gorgeous Gimaguas Piruleta glass necklace and Jordan Lord Monaco tiny silver hoop earrings, underscoring the summer white skirt, color block trend.

This beach-worthy look was a true one-and-done for the summer 2024 trend, with a black top and white maxi skirt.

Even when Ratajowski is leaning toward more elevated trends, she finds ways to combine them and make runway-worthy looks more accessible and, frankly, more comfortable.

For example, while attending Paris Fashion Week, the model put a practical twist on a chic pantsless look, proving that even the most extravagant outing doesn't require a fancy ensemble. in March, Ratajowski wore an oversized, thigh-high black sweater dress, creating a trendy pantsless look with a rounded mock neckline and exaggerated long-line sleeves, and looked stunning.

The model elevated her laid-back look with a black leather trench coat, a minimal leather shoulder bag from The Row, and oval sunglasses.

It's Rutakowski's fashion world: we just live in it.
