Rihanna takes the sheer trend with a see-through skirt and blazer

Sometimes, the runway of Fashion Week may agree with emerging trends that fashion editors feel impossible to wear even in real life. When Collection after collection began to incorporate completely sheer fabric into the spring 2024 runway, we weren't sure there would be a lot of applications away from the catwalk. But on Thursday 5/16, Rihanna showed why I should overcome the hesitation to see-through fabric.

Rihanna, with the goal of being almost completely transparent, NYU graduation dinner at the Italian restaurant Mamo (her brother is reportedly graduating this spring) Sheer elements gathered a see-through black skirt (or slip dress- credits show the shape of the garment) with contrasting satin fabric at the hem. I'm sure it has not yet been released). On top, she pulled a black leather blazer and square frame sunglasses. AAPAP Rocky held her hand and her black Lady Dior bag was wearing a powder blue suit.

Rihanna completed her outfit with semi-sheer tights, a diamond tennis necklace and diamond earrings. While her blazer and jewelry felt to suit the beauty billionaire, her see-through skirt brought the energy of the outing.

While the exact credits of Rihanna's outfit have not yet been shared, whether it's a straight runway piece or a vintage pull to her look, Fenty mogul is referring to the John Galliano collection from the 1990s or experimenting with head-to-toe moments from the recent Paris Fashion Week collection. Regardless of the Fa often their looks will be together with the help of stylist Jahleel Weaver.

After skipping the 2024 Met Gala, Rihanna turned the New York City sidewalk into an experimental, vintage costume playground. Over the Mother's Day weekend, the singer paired viral pieces like Alaïa's sold-out Crystal Ballet flats and Gucci's East-West horsebit bags with archival outfits like Comme des Garçons. It shows off a range of luxurious handbags comparable to Peth's Birkins.

Rihanna's May 16 look goes down in her recent personal style history as the first to lean into peek-a-boo styling. As long as there was a contrasting layer on top, it was enough to sell skeptics like me in appearance.
