Selena Gomez Cannes Red Carpet Gown Deserves a standing ovation

The Cannes Film Festival is known for its extended standing ovation as it is for its charming, border-pressing red carpet fashion.

Gomez walked the red carpet in Cannes on Saturday, March 18 to celebrate Emilia Perez in an off-the-shoulder Saint Laurent gown in the style of Erin Walsh. The look featured a wrap-like, draped white neckline and black column shape- as if an elegant silk shawl had slipped off her shoulders and magically held itself in place. The classic movie star energy of the look was amplified by the intricate diamond choker necklace and Bulgari drop earrings.

Make-up artist Hung Vanngo prepared Gomez for the carpet with a minimal matte beauty look that included natural lips and lightly lined eyes. (Of course, the look came along with an unusual beauty product. She swept her hair into a shiny high ponytail, with curled curtain bangs framing Renato Campola's style face. The star also debuted a fresh and fiery red manicure.

Before hitting the carpet, Walsh styled Gomez in a Balmain colorful halter dress. The cheerful outfit included a structured red buster that flowed into a full floral print skirt. She also pulled her hair back into a high, loosely curled ponytail (which drew the bangs of the curtains from a later red carpet walk).

Gomez's Cannes tour looks were not just those. The day before, she wore a Peplum mini dress in a self-portrait, paired with an Aspinal in a bag and Roger Vivier's sling back heel in London to the south of France inspiring her then swiping her unusual beauty lipstick in the shade, changing into a custom black dress by Oscar de la Renta.

Gomez attends Cannes to promote Emilia Perez, a film called "musical crime drama" by variety. Zoe Saldana also co-stars in the film, with up-and-coming Carla Sofia Gascon as the lead. Otherwise, she leads an unusual beauty, and through her recent projects including the fourth season of the Only Murder in the building and the reboot of the Wizard of Waverley Place

, Gomez has transformed the area into looks that bring a feminine edge to her business and red carpet style. We have been working with John Walsh. Tapping into emerging labels like Oscar de la Renta and Versace's famous homes, as well as Maticevski, the star has recently been in favour of an off-the-shoulder neckline, ribbon details and a minimalist palette — just like her award-worthy Cannes look.
