Read MoreIt's been a while since Blake Lively was last on the style radar. A few months ago, she was spotted at the Michael Kors New York Fashion Week show in February, and a few weeks before that at a girls' night out alongside Taylor Swift. Coincidentally, yesterday evening, a few days before the Met Gala, Lively ended her street style hiatus by attending the Tiffany Titan event in New York City. And her outfit for the evening was mermaid-core perfection.
On Thursday, May 2, Lively attended an intimate event celebrating the launch of Tiffany's collection with Pharrell Williams at Tiffany's Fifth Avenue flagship store: the Landmark. For the occasion, the actress wore a sparkling mermaid-style midi gown sourced from Happy Isles, a vintage store with locations in New York and Los Angeles. [The strapless, ankle-length dress was a glittering shade of Tiffany's signature teal blue and was adorned with sequin scales all over. Crystal beads dangled from the bodice, and the skirt featured a knee-length side slit (as of press time, the designer of Lively's Under the Sea Couture has not yet been identified).
The Gossip Girl star completed her look with Gucci crystal-studded Mallory sandals. She layered Tiffany & Co. pieces, including a blue cuprian elbaite tourmaline necklace that she wrapped around her wrist like a bracelet. She also added dangling earrings, a yellow gold diamond ring, and a bird-shaped brooch clipped to the strap of her dress.
Lively complemented the undersea theme of her ensemble by wearing her blonde hair in loose waves. Her makeup consisted of peachy eyeshadow and coral lipstick.
Lively joined the many A-listers who attended Tiffany's intimate celebration, including Black Pink Rosé, Anitta, Rosalia, and Gabrielle Union.
It's not just her stunning mermaid-core ensemble that makes Lively's unexpected appearance so special; with the Met Gala just around the corner on Monday, May 6, the guest list for fashion's "biggest night" will not be finalized until the night itself. As always, however, rumors are circulating about possible appearances, and the actress is on the short list.
Lively is often considered the queen of the Met Gala. She is famous for not working with a stylist and creating her own outfits that are creatively staged to wow. Take, for example, her last Met Gala in 2022: Lively hired Atelier Versace to create a gown that spanned from a rose gold bustle to a long turquoise blue train.
Blake Lively's sighting at the Tiffany event was the perfect omen needed to foreshadow her potential appearance on the museum steps Monday night. But for now, at least there is this stunning mermaid gown to hold fans over while they wait to see if the speculation is actually true.
