Zendaya, co-chair of the 2024 Met Gala, arrived in New York City for the annual fashion extravaganza. Just 24 hours before ascending the famous steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art with stylist Lo Roach, the Challengers star has already proven that she understands this year's theme better than anyone.

On Sunday, May 5, Zendaya arrived at the Met Gala's Co-Chairman's Dinner in an item fitting the "Garden of Time" dress code. Vintage from John Galliano's Fall 1998 collection, it was covered in tiny pink floral embellishments.

Zendaya's midi-length gown featured a sheer overlay with pink ribbon and floral detailing at the neckline, plus floral braiding on the skirt. She paired the dress with white pumps, which we believe were her favorite Louboutins, which she wore throughout the Challengers press tour. With her bright pink lips and rosy cheeks, her beauty also evoked the beginning of spring.

The dress, her first in decades, is perfect for the first of two events honoring this year's Costume Institute exhibition. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" collection will feature archival fashions from over 400 years of style history.

Lo Roach sourced pieces from Aralda Vintage, a Los Angeles boutique that many A-list stylists visit to source rare looks for their clients. Roach wrote in an Instagram story, "Aralda Vintage wins again."

For the 2024 Met Gala, Zendaya and Lo Roach are using their archival connections for the star's continuous press tour; for the promotion of Dune: Part 2, the two dived into the archives of Mugler and Givenchy to obtain Cyborg Couture outfits. For "Challengers," they reinterpreted tennis wear in Louis Vuitton vintages by Vivienne Westwood and Marc Jacobs.

Zendaya's packed schedule kept her away from the steps of the Met for nearly half a century. Her last appearance was at the 2019 "Camp: Notes on Fashion" installment. On that occasion, she and Roach made Met Gala history with a light-up Tommy Hilfiger look, dressed as Cinderella and her fashion fairy godmother.

After a five-year hiatus, expectations for the co-chairs' 2024 Met Gala look could not be higher. Whatever Zendaya wears, it will be the result of swift tailoring and flawless styling. According to a recent New York Times interview with her image architect (Roach), her dress was not fitted until Saturday, May 4.
