Meghan Markle and Prince Harry share adorable photo of Archie in the New Year

Kate Middleton and Prince William aren't the only royals to share new family photos (opens in new tab) for the holiday season on Instagram. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also posted on Instagram ahead of New Year's Eve. The couple posted a highlight reel of the year, which included a new shot of Harry and Archie. This comes just days after an electronic Christmas card (opens in new tab) featuring a new Archie photo began circulating on Instagram.

Meghan and Harry captioned the SussexRoyal account, "Wishing you all a very happy New Year! We loved meeting so many of you from all over the world and can't wait to see many of you again next year, and we hope 2020 is a healthy and happy year for all of you!

The pair did not spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham this year; they are in Canada and will reportedly be there again tonight to ring in the New Year.

Their spokesperson confirmed prior to Christmas (opens in new tab) that the couple and Archie are in Canada.

"As reported, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private time in Canada. The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to Their Royal Highnesses. This email confirms the country in which Their Royal Highnesses are spending time with their families, but for security reasons, we ask that no further details be released and that their privacy be respected," the spokesperson said in a statement posted on his Twitter account by royal reporter Omid Scobie.

"The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada for many years and Canada was where the Duchess lived for seven years before becoming a member of the Royal Family. They enjoy sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscapes with their young son."

"The Duke and Duchess are very happy to be here.

Initially, their spokesperson announced in November (opens in new tab) that Meghan and Harry would not be spending Christmas with the Royal Family this year, and the Queen approved them taking the vacation.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to more family time towards the end of the month. Having spent the past two Christmases at Sandringham, their Royal Highnesses will spend the vacations with the Duchess's mother, Doria Ragland, as their new family this year." This decision is in line with the precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family and has the support of Her Majesty the Queen."
