Meghan Markle and Prince Harry take legal action over Archie drone photos

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are taking legal action after a drone was used to take photos of their son Archie at their Los Angeles home, the BBC reported (opens in new tab). Michael Kamp, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's lawyer, filed a complaint in Los Angeles on Thursday, saying the photos taken during the coronavirus blockade were an invasion of privacy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab), in the complaint, Kamp said the Sussexes are suing because of "the continuous invasion of the privacy of their 14-month-old child in their home, and the desire and responsibility of parents to do what is necessary to protect their child from this manufactured feeding frenzy He stated that this was due to."

"Some paparazzi and media personnel have been flying drones just 20 feet above the house three times a day to take pictures of the couple and their young son in their private residence," Kump wrote. "Another flies a helicopter over the backyard of a house from as early as 5:30 a.m. to as late as 7 p.m., waking up neighbors and their son day after day. Others even cut holes in the fence to peek in."

Kumpf also wrote that "the police have been known to fly over the house and even to fly over the backyard of the house.

In a statement, Kump said, "Every individual and family in California is guaranteed by law the right to privacy in their homes. No drone, helicopter, or telephoto lens can take away that right."

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are bringing this lawsuit to protect their young son's right to privacy in his home without intrusion by photographers, and to expose and stop those who seek to profit from these illegal activities."
