Florence Pugh Says She Feels "Like Shit" When Criticized for Dating Zach Braff

Florence Pugh and Zach Braff's relationship (opens in new tab) has drawn much criticism on the Internet over their 21-year age difference (Pugh is 24 and Braff is 45). Pugh has vehemently defended the relationship: in April, she said in an Instagram video (opens in new tab), "I don't deserve to have you tell me who I should and shouldn't love," and the following month she told "Elle UK" (opens in new tab), "People can't say anything about my personal life. I don't deserve to have people tell me about my personal life," she told Elle UK (opens in new tab) the following month. Earlier this week, she appeared on the podcast Sue Perkins: a podcast in which she said she felt "like shit" because of online scrutiny of their relationship.

"I've always thought it was crazy that people were old enough to see my work, to support my work, to pay for my tickets, to grow up and pay taxes, but not old enough to know who they should and should not have sex with. I've been thinking about it," Pugh said, People reports (opens in new tab)." Once again, we're making young women feel like shit for no reason."

"I think admitting that made me feel like shit for a while," Pugh told host Sue Perkins.

"I'm 24 years old, and I don't get to choose who I love.

"There's a reason I don't date people my own age. So who are you trying to match me with?"

"I think the entertainment industry has obviously made those boundaries very blurred. People want to have a say in who you go out with and where you go to lunch." I always find it odd that people want to have a say in your personal life."

"The truth is," Pugh continued, "I'm not a reality TV star and I don't let people into my life like that." Since when is it okay for people to yell at someone because of their relationship "It's crazy to me."
