07/13 Update: Last Wednesday, the body of "Glee" star Naya Rivera was found in the lake where she went missing while boating with her 4-year-old son. The body has not yet been identified; it was found around 9:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab). The Ventura County Sheriff's Office will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. ET Monday:

Naya Rivera is presumed drowned (opens in new tab) in a boating accident on Southern California's Piru Lake on Wednesday, police said. A search and rescue operation was launched after Rivera's rental boat was found adrift in the lake and her 4-year-old son, Josey, was found asleep on board. Josey went swimming with his mother, but Rivera never returned to the boat, he told authorities. Police are currently searching for and recovering Rivera's body.

According to the New York Times (open in new tab), authorities say there is no evidence of foul play, but it is too early to determine what happened.

"We presume that an accident occurred and she drowned in the lake," Ventura Country Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Dyer said Thursday, the BBC reported (opens in new tab)." The goal is still for her family to bring Ms. Rivera home so they can have some closure," he said.

Sgt. Kevin Donohue said that visibility was poor in the area where the boat was found, which could hamper the recovery operation, the New York Times reported. He offered his condolences to the Rivera family and said, "This is a terrible tragedy for all of them."
