Naya Rivera's Family Releases Emotional Statement Honoring "Legend of Beauty"

The family of Naya Rivera released a moving statement (opens in new tab) on Tuesday after police confirmed that the body found in Piru Lake in Southern California on Monday, July 13, belonged to the Glee star. Rivera is believed to have drowned (opens in new tab) while swimming in the lake after renting a boat with her 4-year-old son Josie. According to police, she saved her son's life by helping him get back into the boat before he died.

A family statement to Deadline by Rivera's manager, Gladys Gonzalez, paid tribute to the "beautiful legend" who was "an amazing talent and an even greater human being, mother, daughter, and sister." Her family thanked the authorities who searched for Rivera and her "friends, colleagues, and fans."

According to Deadline, Rivera is survived by her parents Yolanda and George Rivera, sister Nikayla Rivera, brother Mikal Rivera, and son Josie.
