Read MoreBrad Pitt and his oldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt are not getting along, Us Weekly (opens in new tab) reports. Pitt is not talking to either Maddox or Pax right now, the magazine has been told by sources. As for Pitt and Maddox in particular, "the relationship continues to be nonexistent," the source said, adding that Pitt has not met with Maddox at all.
Pitt and Maddox's relationship has been strained since 2016, when Pitt allegedly got into an argument (open in new tab) with Maddox during a private jet flight to Los Angeles, the outlet noted. The incident prompted Angelina Jolie to file for divorce from Brad.
In October, Us Weekly reported (open in new tab) that Pitt was disappointed that he and Maddox had not grown closer and that Maddox was "not receptive" to his attempts to repair the relationship. Last fall Maddox began attending college at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, but returned to Angelina Jolie's home in Los Angeles (opens in new tab) in the spring after the school switched its semester-long classes online due to a coronavirus outbreak.
A source told us in October that Pax is not close to his father, but Pitt is hoping things will change. The source said, "With Maddox overseas [for college], Brad is hoping that Pax will also be interested in reuniting without his brother's influence."
Maddox is the only family member to have addressed reports of a strained relationship with Pitt; in September, paparazzi gave Maddox a street interview while he was at college. Maddox tactfully (opens in new tab) answered the reporter's two questions about Pitt.
When asked if Brad would be visiting him at the university, Maddox replied, "I don't know about that, I don't know what's going on." The reporter then asked if his relationship with Pitt was over. Maddox replied, "Whatever happens, happens." From there, the focus of the questions turned to Maddox's new life and studies in Korea.
