Watch the full new trailer for Beyonce's visual album "Black is King"

Last month, Beyoncé did what she does best: surprise drop (opens in new tab) and released the first trailer for her visual album, Black is King. This morning, she also released a new trailer for the Disney+ film, which opens July 31, reminding us that the wait is almost over. Here it is:

This new project is entirely Bay's handiwork: she wrote, directed, and executive produced it. If you watch the trailer closely, you'll also see members of her family, including her mother Tina Lawson and her husband Jay-Z. Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyongo, and Kelly Rowland also appear.

The film is a retelling of the story of Disney's The Lion King, in which Beyoncé starred as Nala last year. The album will feature songs from The Lion King: The album will feature songs from Beyonce's album The Lion King: The Gift, which was released at the same time as the film last year.

She narrates the trailer, which begins:

"You were formed by the heat of the galaxy. You were formed by the heat of the galaxy. The same, yet different from everyone else. Life is a series of choices. Lead or be led astray. Chase the light or lose it.

Disney and Parkwood Entertainment released a statement about the project last month via Variety (open in new tab): "The film is the story of an era that informs and reshapes the present. The film is a story of an era that informs and reconstructs the present. It is the story of how those left most broken have a future with extraordinary talent and purpose.

In a June 28 post, Bay shared his thoughts about the album: "Black is King is a labor of love. It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching, and editing day and night for the past year. It's a passion project of mine that I've been shooting, researching, and editing day and night for the past year.
