William recently appeared on the BBC's That Peter Crouch Podcast (opens in new tab) to discuss Crouch and his Twitter presence with the former soccer player, laughing that the staff "intentionally keep [him] away" from the royal court's official account.People ' (opens in new tab), the Duke of Cambridge admitted that he had taken control of the account several times recently - most notably when Liverpool defeated Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals in May 2019.

"When Liverpool played that great game [against Barcelona], I went mental, grabbed Twitter and just posted," William said. 'It was a great match. I was literally blown away. It was the best game of soccer I've ever seen. And I completely lost it and just said, 'Tweet it, send it, tweet it. Tweet it. Well done Liverpool, incredible result!!!W," he tweeted (opens in new tab).

William said that what makes him itch to tweet is when his chosen soccer team, Aston Villa, wins a game." He added: "It hasn't happened much this season, but almost every Villa game we win, I try to tweet about it. 'It hasn't been much this season, but almost every Villa game we've won I've tried to get it. I have to fight them for it."

Still, he has succeeded only once: last Sunday, when Aston Villa narrowly avoided relegation. Again, William did not tweet anything outlandish.
