Meghan Markle says she gave "everything in her life" for the Royal Family.

One of the saddest details to emerge from Omid Scobie and Caroline Durand's biography of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Finding Freedom, is how badly Meghan felt about how her royal life had turned out, and how hard she tried to make it work. According to Scobie and Durand, quoted in the book published by the Independent (opens in new tab), Meghan "tearfully" told a friend in March, the Sussex couple's last month as active royalty. 'I gave my whole life to this family. I would have done anything,' Meghan is said to have said. But here we are. It's so sad."

Harry, on the other hand, was deeply frustrated by the lack of support from the royal family for the couple. This is very understandable given Meghan's vehemently racist press coverage. An inside source told Scobie and Durand that Harry felt there were "many occasions" when the royal family could have supported the Sussexes or spoken out about the vicious media coverage they were receiving. Harry believed that his family "could have helped them, stood up for them, and backed them up, but they didn't."

According to Finding Freedom, one member of the royal family who supported the Sussexes, was the queen herself. Scobie and Durand write that the queen "always tried to be sensitive to the needs of her grandchildren. For Harry, the feeling was enormous."
