Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (opens in new tab) recently settled into their new home in Montecito, California (opens in new tab). The move came as a bit of a surprise, as many had expected the Sussex family to remain in Los Angeles (opens in new tab), but sources close to the royal couple say that Montecito was always on the short list of places to live after the royal abdication.

"Meghan visited Montecito as a teenager and fell in love with the picturesque scenery and stunning architecture," a source told Us Weekly (opens in new tab). Moving there was always an option, but she and Harry wanted to try Los Angeles in the first place."

So why didn't that shot ultimately work out? [Unfortunately, Harry absolutely hated it. （With the [coronavirus] outbreak, the timing was very bad and there was no privacy," the source added.

While the couple will not be living in Los Angeles, they will be close enough to the city to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, if that is their goal.

"Plus, Montecito is just over an hour's drive from L.A., where most of their work is based, but with the added bonus of being far enough away to escape the crowds, paparazzi, and tourists of Hollywood," the source added.

Now we'll just have to wait as patiently as possible for pictures from inside the Sussex family's new home (opens in new tab). For the record, we are not patient at all.
