After Kim Kardashian unveiled her latest SKIMS collection, Maternity Solution Wear, Chrissy Teigen took to Instagram to explain why she chooses shapewear during pregnancy. Some felt that the concept of shapewear during pregnancy implied that pregnant people are trying to make themselves look smaller, but Kardashian and Teigen disagreed with that stance.

On her Instagram Story, Teigen released a series of videos of herself wearing a set of pregnancy shapewear (she did not say what brand she was wearing, but it looked a lot like SKIMS' upcoming release)." Basically, the reason I love pregnancy shapewear is because it stops all the folds of my vagina and stomach from eating other types of underwear," she said. "When you're pregnant, if you're sitting a lot or resting in bed like I am, you just sit around a lot. It doesn't look like I'm wearing underwear."

"We're not trying to trick you, we're pregnant. We just want to feel good about ourselves during a really tough time mentally," she continued. 'It's no big deal. I don't think I have a magic waistline right now. I'm not trying to have a waistline. I just want to wear underwear that is beautiful, that feels good, that is soft, that is comfortable, that stretches nicely over my stomach, that doesn't eat my vagina."

"We do that so we feel high and tight and honestly, it feels easier to get up and move around without flopping around all over the place. For the most part, it's just the most comfortable thing to wear."

Shortly after Teigen spoke on Instagram, Kardashian tweeted. "To anyone having issues with Maternity Solution Wear. Those who have never been pregnant may not know the struggle of what it is like to carry all this weight, as I did along with millions of other strong women. The Skims maternity line supports, not slims."

"Instead of slimming the belly, it is actually a sheer, layered material that is thinner than the rest of the body. It supports the uncomfortable weight on your belly from affecting your lower back," Kardashian continued. 'The compression of the leggings helps relieve pain caused by swelling.
