Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly hope to restore their reputations with Netflix deal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (open in new tab) have high hopes for their Netflix deal.

Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (open in new tab) revealed a big part of their post-royal abdication plans: a massive multi-million dollar development deal with Netflix (open in new tab). Harry and Meghan will produce a variety of content for the streaming giant, including feature films, documentaries, scripted shows, and children's programming.

The deal has a lot in store for the two. However, according to sources close to the royal family, Harry and Meghan (open in new tab) are hoping that their partnership with Netflix will bring more than that.

According to Us Weekly (opens in new tab), Harry and Meghan (opens in new tab) see the Netflix deal as a way to "rebuild their reputation" after their controversial royal exit earlier this year. The source added, "It was too tempting to resist."

Not much is known about the deal, but what is known is that the Sussexes (open in new tab) will use the platform to promote the issues, causes, and values they care about most.

"Our focus is to create content that not only informs, but gives hope. As new parents, creating inspiring family programming is also important to us." [Netflix's] unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that elicits action."
