Princess Meghan's email to the Palace about rumors of Kate's crying is published.
Part of the email Meghan Markle sent to the Palace about the false report (opens in new tab) that she made Kate Middleton cry has been released. In case you missed this moment in the Sussex couple's interview with Oprah (opens in new tab), Meghan said there was no truth to the claim that she made Kate cry (opens in new tab) at a pre-wedding flower girl fitting, and instead "the opposite happened."
"A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something - yes, the issue was, correctly, about the flower girl's dress. And in light of everything else that was happening in the days leading up to the wedding, I thought it didn't make sense to just do the same thing that everyone else was doing, which was trying to support my dad (opens in new tab) and knowing what was going on."
To clarify, Meghan explained that Kate "apologized and I forgave [her]," but that the palace never corrected the false claims - even though she specifically asked.
Omid Scobie, a royal reporter for Harper's Bazaar (open in new tab), asked Prince Harry to sign a statement (open in new tab) quashing rumors that Prince William had "constantly bullied" the Sussexes before Meghan stepped down from her senior royal position When he did, he revealed part of an email he wrote to a royal aide, and according to Scobie's source, Meghan wrote: "Well, if we just throw any statement out there now, maybe KP can finally set the record straight about me (not making Kate cry).
Scobie reports that "as with many requests made by the couple, her suggestions were ignored" and that she was told by the Duchess of Cambridge that she "should never be dragged into idle gossip."
