Prince Charles "disagrees" with Prince Harry's "trashing of his entire family.
Prince Charles (opens in new tab) has yet to publicly comment on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah (opens in new tab) last Sunday, but he is apparently unimpressed.
"Charles is not in favor of Harry publicly trashing his entire family," a source told Us Weekly (opens in new tab). 'Prince Charles thinks these issues could easily have been dealt with in private. Both Prince Charles and Prince William (opens in new tab) apparently feel that "this is the first of many such interviews bashing the royal family and the royal way of life."
Harry discussed his relationship with his father (opens in new tab) in an interview with Oprah, saying he felt "really let down," and Prince Charles stopped answering his phone after Harry and Meghan announced they were stepping down from senior royal positions. Meghan also revealed (open in new tab) that there were racist "concerns" from within the royal family about "how dark (Archie's) skin will be at birth." She and Harry did not reveal the identity of the person who made these egregious remarks, but Oprah confirmed that it was not the Queen or Prince Philip.
Prince William then broke his silence about the interview (opens in new tab), saying that he had not yet spoken to Harry but that he "will" and that "we are not a racist family."
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace issued this short statement (opens in new tab) two days after the Sussex couple's Oprah interview:
"The whole family is saddened to learn how difficult the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, especially the issue of race, are concerning. While some recollections may differ, we take them very seriously and intend to address them privately with the family. Harry, Megan, and Archie will always be a beloved family member."
