Prince Philip reportedly doesn't have the full story on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's explosive revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey (opens in new tab) dominating the headlines, Prince Philip (opens in new tab) has spent the last few weeks focusing on his recovery.
In an interview with Australia's 9Honey (opens in new tab), royal author and expert Katie Nichol explained that the royal family has made sure to shield the 99-year-old from media influence from Harry and Meghan's 90-minute sit-down with Oprah.
"The royal family strongly prefers that he not know the full story of the interview," Nicole explained. The royal expert further explained that the breadth of coverage of the Sussex couple's interview (opens in new tab) "made it impossible for him to avoid it altogether ...... Efforts were made to protect (Prince Philip) from the full extent of the influence."
Earlier this week, the Duke of Edinburgh was discharged from hospital after a month-long stay that included a heart procedure.
"It was a great relief to see him discharged in a car and not an ambulance. But in the back seat he looked very, very weak. I know the family are relieved that he is home, but I also know they are deeply concerned about his health," Nicole told the Daily Mail (opens in new tab).
In a post to Vanity Fair (opens in new tab), Nicole said that Harry is in regular contact with this grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and receives regular updates on his grandfather's health.
