Rouget-Jean Page on why he won't return to "Bridgeton".
News just in. Rouget-Jean Page will not be returning to Bridgeton (opens in new tab) for Season 2. (Opens in new tab) In an exclusive interview with Variety (opens in new tab), he said he always suspected the role would be a short-term one.
"It's a one-season arc. I'm not sure how long it will last," Page said. 'Because it felt like a limited series. I show up, I contribute a little bit, and then the Bridgerton family goes on."
He added that he appreciated that Julia Quinn's book series is an anthology and that each book focuses on a different sibling love story.
"One of the things that is different about this [romance] genre is that the audience knows that the arc is complete. The audience knows it, so they can have an emotional connection to it."
He told Variety that he looks forward to seeing the show continue without him." We can only be excited to see Bridgerton continue to run steam trains and conquer the world. But there is also value in completing these arcs and cementing the landings."
Page may be OK with a short stint on the show, but in the past he has said he is looking forward to continuing with Simon.
"I don't know if I believe in Paradise," he told TV Guide (opens in new tab) last December before the release of season one. 'I know that's what the romance genre generally is about. But as long as we continue to explore the characters, I think love is something that evolves. Love is a living thing, it needs to be cared for, it needs to be taken care of, it needs to be mended when it's frayed or torn. They marry very young. They still have a lot of growing up to do, and I think it will always be fun to watch them do it together."

It will be hard for the show's biggest fans to see Simon leave. Kim Kardashian commented on the show's announcement, ... She seemed quite upset:
But you'll see me again soon (opens in new tab).
Don't worry!
