Britney Spears has spoken out about the deep hurt her family inflicted on her. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she explained that it was actually her mother Lynn, not her father Jamie, who was at the origin of her conservatorship (opens in new tab).

"The moment I smile and realize I haven't for a very long time!!!" The star wrote (via The Independent (opens in new tab)). My mom was very concerned and said, "You're acting weird ...... What's wrong? I said, 'Hi, my name is Britney Spears.

She continued. 'Before I tell you any more, forgive me in advance ... it's been 13 years, so I'm a little rusty! It used to be a family business. ...... It's not anymore! So thank you for getting out of my life.

Spears said, "Jamie loves and supports his daughter unconditionally. Jamie's attorney wrote in court papers. 'For the past 13 years, Jamie has done everything in her power to protect and care for her daughter. For the past 13 years, Jamie has served as her conservator.
