Adele felt "embarrassed" when her divorce became public
Adele hasn't stopped rejoicing in recent weeks, releasing new music (opens in new tab), being incredibly vulnerable in various interviews (opens in new tab), and taking on Instagram Live in a cute way (opens in new tab). But in the months surrounding her divorce from ex-boyfriend Simon Konecki (opens in new tab), life has not been easy for the big star.
When her separation from Konecki became public in 2019, Adele did not anticipate the reaction of her fans.
"During things like that, important things that happen in life, your mind kind of goes to a place like that: 'Why don't they like me, if they've been following me for 10 years, why would they write that?'" She states in a new Rolling Stone (opens in new tab) cover story. 'But the reality is, it's not their fault. But in reality, their responsibility as fans is that they want a good record and they want me to deliver it. So I took it with a pinch of salt.
Adele and Konecki are still great friends, and Konecki seemed to send her memes during the Rolling Stone interview, but the singer has long known that their marriage was not what she wanted. 'I didn't really know myself,' she said. 'I thought I knew myself. I don't know if it was the Saturn regression or the fact that I was entering my thirties, but I didn't like myself.'
But it was devastating for Starr to admit to the world that her marriage had fallen apart." Then a lot of people who didn't know I didn't work out came to find out: ...... I was terribly devastated," she told Rolling Stone magazine. "I was embarrassed. Nobody made me feel embarrassed, but you feel like you didn't do a good job."

But through difficult times, Adele began to feel like herself again. In a new chapter, she began dating sports agent Rich Paul. Importantly, however, Adele also found self-love. She concluded, "I am no longer frightened of loneliness."
