Prince Charles may not become King Charles: Why the title of Prince of Wales is changing

It is clear that Prince Charles is the next king, with Prince George behind Prince William. However, Prince Charles has been in the public eye for 73 years, so it is difficult to imagine him as anything other than Prince Charles. However, when he eventually becomes king, he will have the opportunity to choose a new name.

If he takes the traditional method, known as the "regnal title," he will be Charles III as king, making him the first King Charles since the 17th century. But there is no need to take the traditional way: according to Express UK, there is a seldom-used rule that would allow him to take on a new royal title. His full name is Charles Philip Arthur George, which means that as king, Charles can adopt any name that is part of his full title. King Arthur, for example?

And he would not be the first king to do so. His grandfather, George VI (father of Elizabeth II), took the title George upon his accession. The same was true of Edward VII and Edward VIII, who took the name Edward even though they had grown up with the first names Albert and David, respectively.

Prince Charles could have chosen George VII or King Philip.

Consider the possibility of rebranding the king. We would vote for King Arthur, but this is a literal monarchy and voting would be most irrelevant to this decision.
