Prince Harry and Meghan's California-Style Christmas Cards Baffle the Palace

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2021 Christmas card is still making waves: not only was it the world's first official glimpse of baby Lilibet Diana since her June birth, but the card also featured a rare glimpse of Archie as an infant, and the two It had a truly laid-back California vibe, barefoot and in denim, which matched their new life in the United States. Apparently, however, some in the royal court expressed their bewilderment at the pair's card and wanted to give it a bad rap for such an atmosphere.

According to Express UK, an unnamed royal official spoke with commentator Neal Schon (Schon said on his YouTube channel) and claimed that other senior royals were "baffled" by the "California" theme of the card. This is a royal term meaning "go barefoot in public." This source offers some additional insight.

First, other royals were apparently uncomfortable with the use of "Happy Holidays" instead of the traditional "Merry Christmas" on the card. This is because it should be obvious that Harry and Meghan are foot soldiers in the War on Christmas. The insider also told Sean that the small Abercrombie-style tear in Harry's jeans suggested "a rebellious teenager."

Apparently not. According to Sean, the Queen considers Christmas so important that choosing a different term for the card may have been considered disrespectful. The term "Happy Holidays" is said to be California slang.

Which means it isn't. But fine. Frankly, the criticism is much nicer than we expected, a comment on Harry's insistence on being as barefoot as possible. But the statement about feet was apparently left on the table, which means that Harry is free to walk without shoes another day.
