Bella Hadid Opens Up About Her "Excruciatingly Debilitating" Experience of Depression and Anxiety

Bella Hadid has had a terrible last few years and has bravely spoken out about her painful experiences with depression and anxiety.

The model spoke to WSJ. magazine. In this interview, she felt it was important to share the bad as well as the good, thereby helping her and her fans feel less alone.

She explained to the magazine why she decided to post a recent Instagram photo of herself crying on a bad day." I have really depressing episodes and my mom or my doctor will ask how I was, but instead of responding with a text, I would just send them a picture," she said (via People). 'Because I couldn't explain how I felt.'

Trying to explain what was happening, Hadid continued. 'I was just in excruciating, debilitating mental and physical pain and I didn't know why. (I posted it) to let people who feel that way know that it's okay to feel that way."

She also wrote a post about her experience in the United States, "I just wanted to let people know that I was there.

These days, many celebrities feel empowered to talk about their mental difficulties, so to speak, and that sentiment that to share a problem is to halve the problem, so to speak, seems to be behind these vulnerable revelations. In recent months alone, Pete Davidson explained how much Bob Saget helped him with his mental health, Naomi Osaka prioritized her mental welfare over the French Open, and Kristen Bell shared her best tips for taking care of herself mentally. I can't speak for others, but having these celebrities be willing to talk about their painful experiences has really helped me to feel less alone when I'm struggling.

Hadid also mentioned the separation between social media and real life. She said, "Even though we look so beautiful on Instagram, at the end of the day, we're all cut from the same cloth." 'I thought it would be good for me to be able to speak my truth, and at some point, I just couldn't post nice pictures anymore. I had reached my limit."

Asked if she is always conflicted, Hadid explained that it depends on the day. 'Some days are good,' she said. 'Today is a good day. I'm not as anxious as I usually am. I'm not as anxious as I usually am."

[16 [But tomorrow, I might wake up and it could be the exact opposite. That's why I get so anxious."

Being open about her mental health on social media, she continued, "made me feel less alone because there were a lot of people who reached out to me and said, 'I feel the same way.'"

"It made me feel better to be able to walk out and remember that there are a lot of people out there who are going through the same things I am and have similar patterns. That may not be what people are looking for on Instagram, and that's fine. You don't have to be on Instagram all the time. Real is the new real, and I feel like that's what's important to me."
