Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas announced on Friday, January 21 that they have had a baby through surrogacy. They posted a joint statement on Instagram, saying, "We are overjoyed to confirm that we have had a baby through surrogacy. We respectfully ask for privacy at this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much."

The actress, 39, and singer, 29, attended the Met Gala together in 2017, which led to rumors of a relationship, which became official in 2018. They became engaged in July of the same year and married in December 2018 in Jodhpur, India. (If their wedding festivities are any indication, this baby is about to have one heck of a first birthday party.) Chopra Jonas has spoken candidly several times about her desire to start a family with her husband; in 2019, she told InStyle magazine, "I want my existence to have meaning. I want my kids to look back and think, 'Oh, that was my mom.'" And in November 2021, during a cover shoot for Vanity Fair, the "Matrix Reservations" star said that children are "a big part of my desire for the future." She added that she is OK with slowing down her career with Nick to raise a child." We're both okay with that." Jonas' famous family has yet to publicly comment on his brother becoming a dad, but Priyanka and baby Nick are the newest additions to their growing brood of cousins. Kevin and Daniel Jonas already have two daughters, Valentina (5) and Alaina Rose (7), and Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have a baby girl, Willa, on July 22, 2020.
