Prince Charles to debut reality show next week

Prince Charles gets his close-up! Next week, Prince Charles will make a cameo appearance on ITV's "Keeping Up With the Aristocrats" program. That means it should start streaming in the U.S. as soon as possible.

The show follows three families of aristocrats, or rich families linked to aristocrats, as they face marital problems, live in sprawling castles, and attend bizarre aristocrat-centric functions. And it is precisely these kinds of events that the protagonists rub shoulders with the Prince of Wales himself.

The scene, for which the Daily Mail has obtained exclusive footage, takes place at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate in July 2021. For those not familiar with the Great Yorkshire Show, its website describes it as "an iconic four-day event" and "one of the biggest agricultural events on the British calendar." So it sounds like a state fair, but then why would royalty attend?

Anyway, two of the stars of the show, Sir Gerald Fitzalan Howard, son of the 17th Duke of Norfolk, and his wife Lady Emma, apparently attended the event with the intention of buying livestock. Prince Charles, for his part, looked dashing in his beige suit and sunglasses at the event. They admired a cow that was being sold for 1,000 pounds. According to the magazine,

"Charles, wearing a pair of trendy tortoise shell sunglasses, asked Gerald, 'Do you want to buy it? Yes. Queen Elizabeth's son says, referring to a breed of cattle that trades at £1,000 a head. Gerald looked nervous as he said, 'I'm not sure. I'm not sure if they are Shorthorns or Longhorns."

The two then discussed Sir Howard's intention to start his own herd at his nearby home, and Charles said of the cattle, "Well done. But they're great because they're going to be on their own"

.

In other words, Prince Charles' reality TV debut is a brief exchange about cows, about which the Prince seems to know a great deal. But is it any more boring than the cumulative years of movies spent watching the Kardashian family eat beautiful salads and talk about texting?
