Prince Charles and Prince Harry reportedly ready to reconcile
Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down for an interview on Oprah in early 2021 to discuss their struggles as members of the royal family, things have reportedly been awkward between Harry and his father, Prince Charles. Harry has not pulled any punches when talking about his father: he has claimed that Prince Charles does not return his phone calls, implied that it was Prince Charles who made racist remarks about his and Meghan's future child, and is said to be critical of his father in his upcoming memoir
However, the book is not a book of criticisms.
However, according to sources reported by The Mirror, the father-son duo has been trying to mend fences in recent weeks. An anonymous royal source told the magazine that the two have had "friendly and fun" video calls, and that Prince Charles has expressed his "eagerness" to meet his grandchildren, Archie, 2, and Lilibet, 7 months. Another source claimed that the two are on a "journey of rediscovery." Yet another source added, "The Crown Prince has been talking to his son frequently in recent months; he loves him very much, as he does his two children, and looks forward to their time together in the near future."

While the situation between the two, and the royal family as a whole, appeared to be quite dire, and the Queen's failure to mention Harry and Meghan by name in her Christmas speech added fuel to the fire, the reported meeting is the latest in a series of articles that Prince Charles has contributed to Newsweek magazine, including a piece on climate change This also followed a stirring opinion piece by Prince Charles in Newsweek praising his two sons for their efforts to combat the issue: "[As a father,] I am proud that my sons are aware of this threat, and I am proud that I am able to help them. Recently, William, the oldest son, launched the prestigious Earthshot Prize to help repair the planet over the next decade by identifying and investing in technologies that can drive change and make a difference. His second son, Harry, also passionately emphasized the impact of climate change, especially on Africa, and pledged to make his charity Net Zero."
Prince Charles has also apparently invited Harry and Princess Meghan to stay with him during his next visit to the UK, although Meghan is reportedly less than enthusiastic. Prince Harry's recent petition to the British government to allow him to pay for police security for his family also hints that he plans to take the whole gang on a trip within the next few months. For Prince Harry and Prince Charles, the Queen's Platinum Jubilee is a year-long celebration and a perfect opportunity to make amends and forge a new path.
