Nicolas Coughlan, please stop commenting on her body.

Being in the public eye is... Interesting. Being a woman in the public eye sounds, frankly, terrifying. People seem to think that because someone is a celebrity, they can say whatever they want about that person, or even about that person directly. Nicolas Coughlan wants to "please, I want to set the record straight on this."

"Hello! If you have an opinion about my body, please don't share it with me," the Bridgerton and Derry Girls actress recently wrote on Instagram.

"Most people are nice to me and don't take offense, but I'm just one real person and it's really hard to weigh the thousands of opinions about how I look that are sent directly to me every day."

"If you have an opinion about me, that's fine. I understand that I'm on TV and people think and say things, but please don't send them directly to me."

"Anyway, here's a picture of me at a hotel in NY where I was about to go to SNL. It has nothing to do with this post, but I'm over the moon with this haircut."

I'm equally over the moon with this haircut. She has a bright blonde bob with soft, understated, breezy waves. She wears soft makeup with glossy pink lips and a floral dress with a large white lace collar.

But anyway, back to the main point, it's so offensive that a woman whose audacity is *perceived* on the Internet and in the media can only expect to be insulted for it. I can only hope that Coughlan's words will deter the vileness of some trolls, but unfortunately, I feel that we have a long way to go before basic decency becomes the norm.
