Kristen Stewart earns Oscar nomination for her role as Princess Diana in "Spencer"

Congratulations to Kristen Stewart! The actress' name has been widely known since she graced our screens as Bella Swan in "Twilight," but it's only now that we're celebrating her first Oscar nomination.

Her nomination for Best Actress for her role as Princess Diana in "Spencer" will come as no great shock to those who have been following the biopic's buzz. Stewart, unsurprisingly, has been an Oscar contender since the film was first shown at the international film festival. It even received a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.

This is a big deal for Stewart, especially considering that she is Spencer's only 2022 Oscar nominee. This is quite ironic considering that Princess Diana's eldest son, Prince William, is involved with the award.

The Duke of Cambridge is far from the only fan of Pablo Larrain's film. His brother, Prince Harry, also recently reportedly intends to skip the Oscars so as not to run into the actress who played their mother. "He's pretty dismayed by the film," a source told OK.U.S.! U.S., adding, "He's actually thinking about skipping the Oscars, but Meghan really wants to get back on the Hollywood scene."

As for Stewart herself, she commented at length about what it was like to embody the People's Princess and how connected she felt to the late royal family. If I could go back in time or bring her back for a minute and ask her anything, I wouldn't ask anything," she recently told Vanity Fair. I just say, "Hey, can I hang out with you?" I just say, 'Hey, can I stay with you? She needed it so much."
