Kate Middleton shines in jewel green as she receives design award on behalf of the Queen

In 2018, the British monarch launched the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, "initiated in recognition of the role the fashion industry plays in society and diplomacy," according to the British Fashion Council.

In 2022, however, the Queen has significantly reduced her official events. And it is indisputable that the Queen, who just turned 96, really deserves a break.

So the question was posed this year as to who would present the awards in the Queen's place, and it may not have taken a million years to answer: after all, the Duchess of Cambridge, in her 11 years as a member of the Royal Family, has established herself as her own fashion icon has established herself as a fashion icon in her own right.

Standing on stage at an event hosted by the British Fashion Council, Kate Middleton said, "I have heard so many inspiring stories about British creativity and seen the amazing work of so many talented designers. So I am delighted to announce the winner of the Queen Elizabeth Prize with Saul Nash in this platinum jubilee year."

Nash is a British menswear designer and choreographer. According to his website, he combines these two disciplines to create clothing designed for movement.

The Duchess obviously knows how important the choice of costume is this time around, and she made a very good choice. She wore a "malachite" green dress by up-and-coming designer Edeline Lee. The brand is stocked in a few retail stores in the U.S., so if you are lucky, you can buy it at those stores.

The dress was knee-length, with a bold belt at the waist and artfully bunched short sleeves. Middleton paired the dress with her trusty dark green pointy-heeled pumps and gold drop earrings. Her hair was worn down and straightened.

Sharing a montage of footage from the event on Instagram, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote, "In this Platinum Jubilee year, we are proud to present designer and choreographer Saul Nash (@Saul.Nash) with The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design) for his work in the design of the new "Queen Elizabeth II.

"The creativity and work displayed by so many talented designers supported by @britishfashioncouncil was inspiring.
